BB V Shepway Stragglers

LOST BY BY 4 WICKETS

The 10-men B.B. fell to defeat against a strong Shepway Stragglers side at Belmont House on Sunday 05 July 2026.

B.B. won the toss and batted first - initially making a strong start with openers Arthur Elliott & Tom Pollington posting 81 runs before loss of the first wicket.

This did initiate a miniature collapse - but the ever-present and reliable Oliver Corbally-Stourton steadied the ship and managed to help the B.B. level to 222-8 declared after 42.5 overs. Arguably this was 30 runs short, but credit must be given to the Stragglers for tight bowling and fielding.

In reponse, the Stragglers built steadily with opening second and third-wicket partnerships of 49, 47 & 63 respectively. Opener Freddie Geffen sailed to an assured 107 and Benedict Smallwood ably saw the Stragglers home with four wickets and six overs to spare in the day, despite a late B.B. resurgence.

A fantastic day out at Belmont as always, and we look forward to the next fixture in 2027.
