BB WON BY 4 WICKETS
A brilliant all-round team performance saw Band of Brothers secure a hard-fought 4-wicket victory over Yellowhammers CC in what turned into a cracking game of cricket.
After losing the toss and being asked to field, we knew we’d have to work hard on a good batting surface. Yellowhammers got off to a solid start, but the bowlers kept chipping away at regular intervals. Henry Elliott and Tom Pollington both struck important blows, while Reuben Collingwood was outstanding, picking up three wickets to keep us in the contest. Despite a superb unbeaten century from their opener Harry Jordan, we stuck at the task, backed each other in the field, and restricted them to 257.
Chasing 258 was never going to be straightforward, and it proved exactly that. We lost wickets at key moments, but every partnership seemed to move us a little closer. After an early setback, we rebuilt steadily before Tom Pollington and Oscar Pullen put together what proved to be the defining stand of the innings, adding over 80 runs under increasing pressure.
Even then, the game wasn’t done. A couple of late wickets gave Yellowhammers hope, but the lower order stayed calm, kept the scoreboard moving, and got us over the line with four wickets in hand. It wasn’t always pretty, but it showed plenty of character and composure when it mattered most.
