BB V Eton Ramblers CC

WON BY 2 WICKETS

The B.B. opened the 2026 season with a solid victory over Eton Ramblers at Torry Hill on Sunday 3 May.

Skipper Alex Cornwallis made the right call in choosing to bowl first on a green-top which delivered him a wicket inside the first over. The Ramblers began to settle and capitalise on some loose early-season fielding, before eventually being bowled out for 221 off 39 overs. Guest player Ed Hind took four wickets, with the remainder shared across the board.

In reply, B.B. started well and reached 102-2 at the Tea interval thanks to 44 from Tom Pollington and 32 from Benny Sharp. After a minor, yet somehow predictable collapse, they found themselves 173-8 still needing 49 runs to win. Thankfully, guest player Charlie Mills steadied the ship and took the Brethren over the line with a dominant 66*.

Brilliant start to the new campaign and a first win for the newly appointed 11th Chief, Colonel Sebastian Pollington. Great to be hosting the Eton Ramblers, best of luck with the season.

We return to Torry Hill next Sunday 10 May to face Old Amplefordians.
