Junior BB v Hampshire Hoggets (Hurst) – Monday 26 July (1.45pm)

Junior BB v Hampshire Hoggets (Hurst) – Monday 26 July (1.45pm)

Match lost by 46 runs.

Hoggets 164-7 (20 overs).

Junior BB 118-8 (20).

The second T20 match saw a strong Hoggets side comfortably win on a rapidly drying pitch. Setting a formidable total, built around a magnificent 84 (63 balls) from Surrey junior opening bat George Aitcheson-Gray, Hoggets held the cards. Josh Ansell (3-13) gave one of the best T20 returns by a Junior BB since it’s inauguration; with Ollie Mordaunt (2-27) and the pace of Harry Wingfield-Digby (1-18) both significant performances. In reply BB set off at a gallop with a high-scoring rate (9 per over in the first 8 overs) being maintained by opener Tom Frost (42) despite wickets falling around him. BB Captain Tom Pedley’s combative 24 (17 balls) and Ollie Mordaunt’s 23 (17 balls) both threatened to produce an unlikely win but it was Hogget’s captain Rollo Harrap’s amazing hat-trick which eventually took the game away from BB.
