BB vs Junior BB
Junior BB - 130 - 9 - 20 overs
BB - 131 - 7 - 16 overs
BB WIN with 3.4 overs to spare
The day kicked off with an astonishing squad of 12 players strong despite the utter panic that set in with the match manager requiring 3 players with just 24 hours to go before the toss. Given our position, Mark Pettman, who sourced 3 of the final XI, stepped down from the starting XI to prevent himself from being torn between his true BB colours and his managerial post for the Junior BB.
Thankfully all XI arrived promptly accompanied by the stand in scorer David Meredith. Then with the toss being lost to the Junior BB’s skipper electing to bat first, the first innings was off. And off to a flyer it was, with balls finding their way to the boundary more frequently than seemed reasonable, additionally salt was rubbed in the wounds when a ball, off a tidy Will Meredith over, was dropped giving the Junior’s a let off to continue their destructive ways, certainly no respect for your elders evident here!
With the opening pair on 80-0 off 9.5 overs the game was beginning to slip from the BB’s grasp, however a timely wicket from Monty allowed for some control back to the BB. With 4 more wickets following swiftly, by way of a brace from a revived Cornwallis and a further two for Monty, the favour of the game quickly swung into BB's favour, as it so often can during these T20 instalments.
The Junior BB’s tail exposed, pace was injected back into the innings through the Meredith brothers and Finn Hulbert, with the elder of the brothers picking up two wickets and Finn getting one through a regulation catch behind from the guest wicket-keeper Mr Biggs, whom managed to get a crafty run out on the last delivery of the innings.
The interval saw the Junior BB post 130-9 from their 20 overs which was a competitive total, especially with the knowledge of the depth in their bowling coupled with weather systems that can only be described as bipolar at best.
With both teams revitalised through their preferred brand of refreshments the second innings was ready to start. Jono and Oscar Ratcliffe opened the batting, smashing ten from the first over, a promising start. However this was short lived and from there we saw Jono clothing one to point which was met with the biggest send-off of the day due to the abundance of current Tonbridge students present in the opposition. This wicket was then followed by 6 more falling at regular intervals over 7 overs, leaving the BB in somewhat of a predicament although our run rate was still healthy. Messers Biggs (38*) and Monty (32*) seemingly nonplussed, proceeded to carve balls through cover and back over the bowlers heads to produce an unbeaten partnership worth 67. This got us comfortably over the line with 3 wickets and 3.4 overs to spare, finally putting an end the Junior BB's rampant form over this season.
Handshakes, biscuits, cake and photos followed the BB victory until a trip to the Red Lion was undertaken in aid for some post-match analysis and a well deserved beer.
Thank you to all of those who took part in this game, especially to Ollie Balcombe (Junior BB), Jono Arscott and Ted Ratcliffe who all stepped forward with very little notice to help us produce a match winning performance (scorecard and photos attached).
The future of BB cricket is bright indeed

Junior BB v Chief's XI at The Mote

Junior BB - 228 all out (Toby Pettman 133)
Chief's XI - 196 all out.
JUNIOR BB WIN BY 32 RUNs
The fabulous 2016 Junior BB season continued with our 4th game in a week and another win, this time with an all day game against the (senior BB) Chief's XI at the Mote.
On a bright and sunny morning, the Juniors arrived in their blazers looking smart and professional. Captain Toby Pettman went out to the middle with Matt Shales for the toss, and Matt asked the Juniors to bat first on a good pitch with a fast outfield.
I had high hopes for the right hand/left hand opening combination of Anthony Bissett (Tonbridge) and Martin Christopherson (Judd), but these were dashed by the excellent bowling of Finn Hulbert. He produced the classic 'three card trick' to bowl Anthony, having given him two away swingers followed by a perfect in swinger which clipped his off stump as he offered no shot.
In came Ed Hyde (Tonbridge), dislocated finger et al from the Martlets game last Friday. He drove the ball beautifully through the covers and hit several clips through mid-wicket for four, before he chased a wide one from Luke Berry (Harrow), who had kindly offered to help the Chiefs XI. Ed was caught behind for a breezy 26 off 17 balls with 5 x 4.
This left the Juniors 40-2 as Captain Toby Pettman walked to the crease, as the last of the recognised batsmen. He and Martin built quietly at first, but ran well between the wickets to put on a 50 partnership. Martin was eventually out for 19 having batted very sensibly (curiously without a boundary) for 73 minutes. 94-3.
Michael Berry (Harrow) came in at 5, playing his first game for two years having been out with a major knee injury. He seemed very comfortable and hit 3 good boundaries off the spinner, before he was out in the last over before lunch, when he was smartly stumped having dragged his foot marginally out of his crease for 14.
Nick Healy (St Edward's Oxford) had the unfortunate task of trying to survive the last few balls to the interval, but got a beautiful Yorker first up and was unlucky to be bowled. Hugo P (Tonbridge) survived the hat trick ball and we went to lunch having scored 149-5 in the session.
However immediately after lunch, Hugo had a swipe at a straight one from Luke Berry and was bowled and we were 150-6. Will Falcon (Harrow) joined Toby and punished anything loose from the spinners before smashing a drive to extra cover, where he was brilliantly caught by his schoolmate Luke for 13. Tom Whitmore (Kings Canterbury) scored 6 as he stayed with Toby for over 20 valuable minutes in a partnership of 48, which got the Junior BB over 200.
All this time, Toby had been compiling a magnificent hundred at the other end. It was a superb captain's innings. He drove the ball beautifully through the off side, and timed it so well. Sometimes it is hard to be impartial when assessing your son's performance, so perhaps the statistics will tell the story instead.
He scored 74% of the runs scored off the bat whilst he was at the crease, and 58% of the team total. His 50 came up in just 44 balls and his 100 in 92. He hit 18 x 4 and 1 x 6 (the rest of the team hit 11 fours combined) and when he was 9th out for 133, he had given just 3 chances. He was nearly run out trying to keep the strike, and dropped twice off his father's bowling... Schadenfreude.
Before the game, I had asked the top 4 to aim to score 200 between them, which brought howls of derision from the team. Well, with 178 I wasn't far off... We were all out for 228 in the 45th over, exactly at half time, which was a competitive total but achievable - perfectly balanced.
After his efforts with the bat, Toby decided to open the bowling with Will Falcon (2-21) and Tom Whitmore (1-32), who conceded the odd boundary initially, but then found their line and length well. At 40-0, the BB looked to be comfortable, however that all changed within 14 balls as they picked up three wickets. 2 were clean bowled and one was caught behind, and suddenly the scoreboard looked very different at 40-3.
Oli Healy (1-28) bowled with the wind and was tidy and accurate. He thoroughly deserved and enjoyed his wicket, calmly and efficiently snaffled by Ed at slip. Hugo (3-39) teased his leggies into the wind and bowled the no 5, trying to cut.
The Chief's XI had a packed the lower order with power in the form of Captain Matt Shales, young George Skinner (Eastbourne), Finn Hulbert and Will Montgomery. Finn scored a brilliant 100 for BB against Tonbridge just a month ago, so Toby, Ed and Anthony knew about his potential. Even though we had managed to get five wickets, it was still a close game.
Nick replaced Hugo and induced a mistake from Captain Matt, who holed out to deep mid wicket, where Martin took an important catch safely. Patience rewarded. Sam Huggett (1-28) got the talented and dangerous George Skinner, who like Luke was actually eligible to play for the Juniors, well caught down the leg side by Anthony from a leg glance.
This meant Will and Finn were together needing a run a ball - no particular difficulty for their quality and power. They seemed to be in no trouble at all until Will hit a ball to the extra cover boundary, which Sam Huggett chased down valiantly. He stopped the four and threw well to the bowler's end.
However Will had silently decided on a third run without calling Finn, who was beaten by Hugo's relay throw to Anthony, who whipped off the bails and Finn was gone, run out. A really good example of not giving up a chase and team work.
At 8 down with 40 needed, we were now favourites. Hugo produced a beauty to get through Luke Berry's defence, and when Will Montgomery (51) smashed a pull straight to the safe hands of Ed Hyde at mid wicket, he took an excellent smart catch (in his undamaged right hand), and the Juniors had won by 32 runs with 2 overs to spare. A classic finish to a great team performance. Interestingly, they faced almost exactly the same number of overs (44).
Man of the Match? Notable mentions for Ant Bissett, who took on the keeping duties and performed so well behind the stumps. The bowling of Will Falcon and Tom Whitmore at the start of the innings was excellent, and Hugo's 3 victims closed out the game. But it is hard to see past Captain Toby. His innings was simply outstanding to set up the game, and he marshalled the troops effectively and confidently in the field.
Champagne moment? There were several - Ed Hyde and Toby's cover driving was a pleasure to watch, Sam Huggett's dive and throw to help run out Finn, Martin's catch at deep mid wicket, Ed's winning catch?
All were great moments, but when our youngest player, Oli Healy, got a wicket with an edge to Ed at first slip, his whoop of delight was heart warming. Congratulations Oli.
So we have won 4/4 and move on to play the Shepway Stragglers. This will be no easier than the Chief's and possibly harder, but no one can ask more of the Juniors so far. It has been a pleasure to watch them play together as a team.

Junior BB v Junior Sussex Martlets at Hurstpierpoint,
July 22nd, 2016
at Hurstpierpoint
Junior BB 175-7 (35 overs)
Junior Sussex Martlets 144 all out (32.3)
JUNIOR BB WIN BY 31 run
no scorecard for this game
After over 100 years of BaBes, the historic first outing for the newly titled 'Junior BB' took place at Hurstpierpoint on a warm and muggy July afternoon against the Junior Sussex Martlets.
This was a group of Juniors with great team spirit that seemed to enjoy playing together, which is exactly the idea of BB Cricket. A mix of mainly 15 and 16 year olds, they were calmly and expertly led by Ed Hyde, vice captain at Tonbridge this season, who lost the toss. Opposing captain Jack Troak asked us to bat.
We opened up with 2 Tonbridgians, Alex Moen and Ollie Balcombe, who set off at a great rate, taking advantage of the short boundaries and fast outfield. Their 50 partnership came up off just 48 balls, and they got us off to the perfect start.
They had seen off the new ball when the first spin was introduced, which promptly removed them both in the same over. Alex was caught off a top edge having scored 33 off 36 balls with some glorious off drives, whilst Ollie was bowled for 26 off 40 balls with 5 boundaries.
At 71-2, Ed Hyde (29) and Ben Erxleben (31) rebuilt with fewer boundary options, as the Martlets had finally realised that they needed a sweeper on both sides of the wicket. They ran very well between the wickets and managed a few 2s, which was a good effort on a pitch that was basically 1 or 4.
The lower order hurried and scurried for final runs to finish on 175-7 off 35 overs. It was a decent total, but perhaps a little 'under par' after being 99-2 at halfway.
After tea, our opening bowling was the promising U16 pair of Will Falcon (Harrow) and Tom Whitmore (Kings C). Both extracted good pace and bounce from the pitch and beat the bat on numerous occasions - they were unlucky to pick up just 1 wicket each from their first spells. Tom struck first with an edge down the leg side, well taken by Ed Hyde. Will got his reward thanks to an excellent catch by Hugo low down to his left at extra cover off a back foot drive.
Tom Nicholls (Tonbridge) bowled his leg spin and was accurate and brave enough to keep giving the ball air, despite being attacked. This courage led to his first wicket, swiftly and efficiently stumped by Ed Hyde. 68-3 off 16.
Luke Berry had replaced fellow Harrovian Will Falcon coming down the slope, and bowled with good control. Alas in taking a ball from Luke down the leg side, Ed dislocated a finger (again) and had to leave the field.
This was immediately after drinks in the 19th over, and Ollie Balcombe manfully offered to keep for the rest of the innings. He did an excellent job and only conceded 1 bye - the Martlets conceded 16, which was crucial when you consider our margin of victory was 31 runs.
Tom Nicholls picked up the Martlets captain, Jack Troak, who played round a full ball and was bowled. Hugo took over from Ed as Captain and soon asked Harry Gripper (Skinners) to bowl his off breaks. It was an inspired decision, as in his second over he collected 2 wickets thanks to catches at extra cover and backward point.
The magic touch stayed with Harry as he got the dangerous Tom Heath (immediately after being smashed onto the road), and it was fitting that Harry finished the game with the last wicket, caught again by Hugo at extra cover for his third catch.
It was pleasing that our bowling and keeping discipline resulted in just 4 extras, whilst the Martlets gave us 31. Well done lads.
Harry finished with 5-24 and was deservedly our Junior BB 'man of the match'. Tom Whitmore had 2-32, Tom Nicholls 2-31 and Will Falcon 1-28.
I also traditionally like to find a 'Champagne Moment' for the day, and there are a number of contenders. Ollie Balcombe hit his first ball past extra cover for 4. Harry Gripper smashed the opening bowler back over his head in the penultimate over.
Tom Nicholls enticed their no 4 down the wicket and Ed Hyde did the rest with the stumping. But perhaps this time it goes to Hugo Pettman for his excellent catch at extra cover. It removed their dangerous opener and was delightfully unexpected.
This was a terrific win for the Junior BB team in their first match of the season against a strong Martlets side, and I am encouraged by the sense of fun but also the skills and calmness they showed today. Well done everyone. Onwards and upwards.

BB WIN BY 25 RUNS
Having come within a wicket of victory against the Trustees last year, the Band of Brothers pulled off a 25 run win in a match that ebbed and flowed throughout the day. It was a spirited showing from BB, given that opening bowler Piers Richardson had pulled out the day before with a dislocated shoulder. In his place stepped eight-year-old James Schilder, who had turned up in his replica England kit to watch his Dad, Matthew. More of that later, but we believe James must be the youngest-ever player to grace a BB side.
Alex Rice won the toss for BB and elected to bat on a very warm July day. Tom Boucher and Ted Ratcliffe (brother of candidate Oscar) began assuredly against a very good opening attack - until Brother Boucher was out to a stunning, unorthodox catch at mid off; Belmont's Berry dived to his left and somehow caught the ball with his right hand, inches above the ground. When the Ratcliffe brothers went in quick succession soon after, BB suddenly found themselves 18 for 3.
Matt Jay and Matthew Schilder steadied the BB ship with some disciplined batting and when Brother Jay was given out caught behind (unluckily, it seems) Paddy Patrick continued the revival. Brothers Schilder and Patrick put on 88 together either side of lunch in a match-winning partnership, with Matthew mixing solid defence with some big hitting on his way to 66.
It was Matthew's young son, James, who really provided the innings highlight though - coming into bat at number 10. Belmont House Trustees, to their great credit, were very happy to give eight-year James the opportunity and opening bowler Annand Cul bowled him five slow but straight deliveries. James played them perfectly and took a single off the last ball, to great cheers from those watching. BB then declared, giving the Trustees around 36 overs to chase 173 for victory.
Olly Robinson, bowling a very fast opening spell before tea, claimed an early breakthrough when he found an edge which flew to Alex Rice at 4th/5th slip. But Brother Robinson tweaked a muscle in his back a few overs later, and the Trustees - Cusworth in particular - played some classy shots to move to 69 for 1. Carl Reading, bowling just as menacing a spell as he had last season, grabbed a much-needed second wicket at this point but when the Trustees were 133 for 3, they were the Bookies' favourites.
The key wicket then arrived courtesy of Tom Boucher, who bowled Cusworth for 77. BB didn't look back. Paddy Patrick, who bowled an admirable 10 over spell uphill and into the wind, had the dangerous Thorneycroft caught at mid-off and the wickets continued to tumble. James Schilder showed that he is just as exciting a prospect with the ball by bowling a very tight over, and it was the captain, Brother Rice, who clinched victory by clean bowling Vinson and Boshier.
The Trustees were left to rue the absence of one of their players who, it emerged, had enjoyed himself a little too much at the Whitstable Oyster Festival the night before and failed to recover in time. But a win is a win, and we thank the Trustees for a most enjoyable match as well as a wonderful lunch and tea.

Provender CC v BB
July 3, 2016
BB won by 2 wickets
In what has been a wet fish of a summer the BB were blessed with warm sunshine and a glorious Kentish day as they took the field against Provender, having been invited to bowl first. This suited the Brethren perfectly as the eleven boasted the finest fast bowling attack the club has to offer in the form of Richardson, Monkhouse and the Meredith brothers. A slight mix up in the team attributes forced the skipper, Regan to don the gloves, but the weak link behind the stumps proved irrelevant as Richardson struck in the very first over, removing Piesley, a former Kent academy player. 0-1. The elder Meredith brother, Harry, fuelled by a desire to perform in front of his girlfriend, struck immediately as well. A peach of an in cutter went straight through the openers defences to castle the stumps, 0-2.
The remainder of the Provender innings was an extraordinary affair of extravagant shot selection and reckless running. Meredith struck again in his first spell and Richardson bowled tightly to restrict the hosts. This was compounded by an amateur piece of cricket from the Provender number 5 who was run out after failing to return to his crease as the ball trickled to gully, where James Wilkes-Green struck the stumps directly. At 4 down by the time the change bowlers came on Provender would hope for some respite, but this was not forthcoming. Will Meredith bowled excellent lines and was rewarded with 2 wickets, and McClean (guest) bowled economically with his off-spin to frustrate the hosts, who rewarded the brethren with another reckless piece of running, James Wilkes-Green striking directly again. Some stubborn resistance down the order was broken by an excellent Monkhouse, who removed the captain, and 2 wickets for 16 year old Alex Moen, a fine prospect for the future. Provender were all out for 91.
Lunch was the usual excellent affair from our generous host, Graham Smith but I fear it slightly put the BB at ease as the chase of such a modest total was not as convincing as one would like. James Wilkes-Green and Pollington, another junior started solidly in the face of some aggressive opening bowling, seeing the BB off to a decent start before Pollington was caught at mid-off. Shelley (guest) started well at 3 but was unable to capitalise on his start courtesy of a dubious LBW decision. Wilkes-Green played beautifully for his 27 before being dismissed unfortunately after a regulation defensive shot saw the ball back spin onto his stumps. This saw Joffy Wilkes-Green come to the wicket and take the game to Provender, mercilessly hitting their wrist spinner out of the attack before another questionable LBW saw him back into the pavilion. This bought McClean to the crease to join Moen and together they played solidly to sooth the nerves and threatened to take the game away from Provender. However the only guarantee in cricket is that a low score is always followed by a low score and the quick dismals of Moen, Harry Meredith and Richardson, the latter to a superb one-handed boundary catch, threatened to leave the brethren on the wrong side of 91. This was further compounded by McClean, who had played so solidly, being dismissed to another excellent catch at point, leaving BB at 76-8. However the game had one further twist to its tale and a solid knock from Monkhouse and some hitting from Regan saw the BB home with 2 wickets to spare, just in time for tea.
Our thanks go to Graham and his excellent support at Provender and the BB can be safe in the knowledge that they are now 2-0 in this newly founded fixture.

King School Canterbury vs BB
BB - 165 (43.3 overs)
King’s school - 166 -4 (30.4 overs)
King’s school won by 6 wicket
In stark contrast to last year’s fixture, conditions this year were autumnal with the game played in a state of near constant drizzle and heavy wind. BB decided to have first use of the wicket and after the early loss of both openers Toby Snape (32) and Toby Marriot (29) carefully went about rebuilding the innings with the generous assistance of the King’s fielders. The damage was done either side of lunch with the School reacting to the coaching staff’s hairdryer treatment in spectacular fashion as BB slumped from 98-3 to 134-8. It was left to Johnny Stubbs (23) to eke out some runs from the lower order with BB’s total of 165 feeling somewhat light.
Having successfully defended a similar total in 2015, BB went out hard in pursuit of early wickets only for King’s to get off to an absolute flier with an aggressive and in form top-order making batting look decidedly easy. A couple of wickets for Olly Reynolds helped stem the flow but the damage had been done by the time King’s reached tea at 100-2. BB battled hard in the last session with spirits undeterred by the worsening conditions; however, the school ended up completing a comfortable victory with 6 wickets to spare

Tonbridge School v BB

at Tonbridge School
TONBRIDGE - 241-7 DEC
BB - 241
MATCH TIED
On Tuesday 21st June, a BB side full of youth and experience took to the typically picturesque, Head at Tonbridge School.
Tonbridge won the toss and elected to bat first, a decision which their Captain may have regretted after Finn Hulbert and Jame Monkhouse rattled the Tonbridge top order. At 46-4 Tonbridge were under a lot of pressure to put a target on the board. An interesting decision to bring Brother Hill onto bowl slightly turned the game back towards Tonbridge. Tonbridge then put together 2 or 3 good partnerships and left the BB fighting to stay in the game. At 241-7 Tonbridge declared and on a good Tonbridge pitch, was that point to be enough?
A similar story was written by the BB top order as we slipped to 40-5. However, with the batting power that was still in the hutch, Rosé was poured and no one panicked. Cue Finn Hulbert. Finn’s glorious shotmaking and relentless defiance was the backbone and body of the BB chase. The BB were in total control as both Finn and Toby Marriott put together a superb and match saving partnership of 139. With The BB 226-7 the game was surely wrapped up. With Finn 115 not out and Alex Hill and Alex Cornwallis still to bat, The BB were filled with confidence. As the sun set over the Chapel both Alex’s were swiftly dismissed and the game was firmly back in The School’s hands. 7 to win. 1 wicket to get. Finn hits a 6! 1 run to win. Finn 128 not out. Scores are level…. And that is the way they finished. Finn tries his luck one too many times and puts a steepler down the throat of the Tonbridge captain. Match Tied.
A superb effort from all and a very fitting result to a fantastic day of cricket. We look forward to going back next year and going 1 run further. Thanks to all involved, a game none will forget

Hurlingham CC v BB
Saturday, June 04 2016
at The Hurlingham Club
BB - 302-6 dec
Hurlingham - 217-9
Match Drawn
On a cloudy morning at the Hurlingham, a strong BB XI assembled to take on a youthful home side. The deck had a greener tinge than usual in this idyllic corner of south west London, however big runs were still expected as the BB were asked to bat first after losing the toss.
However big runs looked in danger as a combination of fine bowling, loose strokeplay, and some surprisingly hasty finger-work from the local umpire saw the BB reach a speedily compiled, yet perilous 133-6. As the saying goes though, cometh the hour cometh the men, this time in the shape of Brothers Norwood-Hill and Churchill. A sparkling 7th wicket stand of 169 followed, either side of a rosé fuelled lunch, allowing Brother Bruce to declare on an imposing 302-6, Churchill having just reached an excellent century and Hilly carefully safeguarding his average with 66 red.
The BB took to the field with energy and enthusiasm, and Meredith struck a couple of early blows, finding bounce and movement with the new cherry. A swift half-century from the surviving opener gave the Hurlingham hope of a successful chase, before the #4 made an early, and highly tedious decision to play for the draw. The game looked to be drifting towards a frustrating conclusion with the BB needing 7 wickets with only 9 overs remaining. However the returning Robinson removed the aforementioned limpet, Munton varied flight and pace quickly accounting for a string of victims, and Meredith grabbed another brace, one courtesy of a magnificent catch by stand in ‘keeper Bruce. Sadly, with 10 Brethren crowded round the bat, the final pair clung on for the last nine deliveries and the Hurlingham Club escaped with a draw. Many of the team retired to the bar to discuss the day’s highlights over jugs of pimms, before taking the ill-advised, yet highly enjoyable path onwards to The Ship, and the Clapham Grand.”

CHIEF'S XI v BB XI - inaugural inter BB match
Chief's XI - 187
BB - 188 for 6
BB won by 4 wickets
PUTTING THE JAZZ BACK INTO JAZZ CRICKET!
Thanks so much to Lady Kingsdown for hosting such a super and successful day at Torry Hill yesterday. Huge thanks also to all Brethren, Candidates and Guests that played, contributed and attended this fantastic event, being the inaugural inter BB match! With 50 excited spectators enjoying the entertainment - the rain held off, the pimms flowed, the food was amazing and the Dixie jazz band played on! Big thanks also Clare Annand for the amazing catering and bar and Howard Waters for a super wicket and all his invaluable help setting up!
BB narrowly beat the Chief's XI chasing down a tricky 187, losing only 6 wickets along the way. Congrats to Brother Cornwallis on guiding his team to victory and I am sure Brother Bax will seek revenge next year - catches do indeed win matches!
BB vs King's School Rochester
BB 255 - 4 Dec
King's School Rochester 151
BB won by 6 wickets
The BB’s won the toss on a glorious day at the Paddock and chose to bat on a wonderful batting track. We got off to a reasonable start courtesy of brother Jay but then lost 2 wickets in quick succession. The damage was soon rectified by Grayson Jones and Luke Ronday (guests) who set about rebuilding the innings. King’s bowlers faded badly as the inning wore on and runs became very easy to come by. The BB’s declared shortly before tea on 255-4.
The King’s response began well with Tom Miles scoring a very impressive 40 until Julian Mitchell produced a fine spell of swing bowling culminating in 2 lbw’s. Once Miles went the wickets tumbled at regular intervals until such time the final wicket fell at 151. All the bowlers contributed and the fielding was outstanding all day. As usual the school were as hospitable as ever and put on a fine spread. Many of the school players were only in the lower sixth so I expect next year’s fixture to be very competitive!
My thanks go to David Lapthorn and Colin Hill for umpiring and of course to Diane Gittings who is ever present at the fixture with the scorebook.
